Kontakta ossMarket leader RES increases global support services portfolio to 7.5GW
Leading renewable energy company, RES, has today announced the acquisition of part of DNV’s asset management activities across 412MW of operational assets in the UK and Ireland owned by a number of clients including CGN Europe and Cubico Sustainable Investments. The deal will see staff and contracts for 27 projects transfer to RES, as the company takes over the site management and control centre services.
RES has seen exceptional growth in its support services (asset management, operations and maintenance) business over the last few years and supports over 7.5 GW of operational wind, solar and storage projects assets across the globe. Today’s announcement follows on from RES’ acquisition of REG Power Management’s asset management business in 2019 and positions the company as one of the leading support services providers to the renewable industry.
Darren Cook, RES’ Asset Management Director, commented: “RES is continuing to lead the growth in the renewables support services market, expanding our capabilities across asset management, operations and maintenance. We expect to see further consolidation in this area with independent companies, like RES, who can cover a range of technologies and platforms able to add greater value to clients through enhancing asset performance. We are investing heavily in our data platforms and digital capability to ensure RES remains at the cutting edge of asset optimisation and management.”
Keir Harman, DNV’s Director for Renewables Operations, commented: “DNV’s strategy to focus on core technical advisory services and divest wind farm site management and control room services in the UK and Ireland fits well with RES’ growth ambitions in this space. We are pleased that RES will onboard our highly regarded and experienced control room and site management staff along with the customer contracts that they support. DNV continues to work in partnership with RES working on operating phase renewable energy projects across the globe.”
RES has 39 years of experience in the renewables sector and an independent study by DNV demonstrated assets managed by RES perform 1% better than industry standard, enabling clients to achieve better performance and increased revenues. Recognised at the Scottish Green Energy Awards for ‘Outstanding Service’ and Wind Investment Awards for ‘Asset Management’, RES recently secured worldwide recognition for its asset management services with the ISO 55001 certification.
