Community feedback helps shape RES wind farm plans

by RES | aug 31, 2023 | Tid det tar att läsa: < 1 min

A recent public exhibition on RES’ Kintradwell Wind Farm, 9km north of Brora, has provided valuable feedback on the proposal.

The consultation event, held in Brora this week by RES, was attended by more than 50 people from the local community and over 30 comments forms were handed in with feedback on the 22-turbine scheme.

John Appleton, Senior Development Project Manager, RES commented: “We took the decision to engage early with the community on this project as we wanted to ensure that people’s comments could help inform the design before it progressed to the next stage.

The feedback received from the exhibition has been really valuable and we are very grateful to everyone who took the time to come along to the event and share their views with us. The comments received, together with the environmental and technical surveys that are being undertaken on site, will play an important part in the development of the design over the coming months and we hope to work closely with the local Community Councils through this process.”

The proposal, which is at an early stage of design, would be capable of producing low-cost, clean, green, renewable energy for around 96,000 homes. New onshore wind is now the cheapest form of electricity generation, helping improve opportunities to reduce electricity bills for consumers as well as making a valuable contribution to Scotland’s energy targets and helping tackle climate change.

RES has a strong track record of working closely with the local supply chain and maximising inward investment opportunities wherever possible. Kintradwell Wind Farm has the potential to deliver approximately £6 million of inward investment into the local area in the form of jobs, contracts, and the use of local services.

The closing date for comments to RES on the proposal is Friday 25th October 2019
