RES gets the green light from Red Rock

by RES | Oct 29, 2020 | Reading time: 2 min

RES’ asset management portfolio continues to grow after it signed a new deal with Red Rock Power Limited to bring on board the Afton Wind Farm in East Ayrshire, taking the total capacity of its asset management services in the UK and Ireland to 1.3GW.

The 50MW, 25-turbine wind farm lies just south of New Cumnock and provides clean energy for 35,000 homes, generating 3.5 million MWh during its lifetime.

As well as site management, RES will provide custom grid services for the wind farm through its 24/7/365 Control Centre in Glasgow, working with National Grid to manage output from the project in real time.

Darren Cook, Asset Manager Director at RES said: “We are committed to providing everyone with affordable clean energy, so we are especially pleased to sign this deal with Red Rock Power to manage day-to-day operations at Afton. It is a real testament to the efforts of our team who continue to provide outstanding work for our clients despite the challenges that we are all facing.

“We look forward to working together with Red Rock to maximise the wind farm’s potential and support the company as it continues to expand its portfolio.”

Mathieu Meijer, Head of Asset Management, at Red Rock Power added: “Working with a very capable and reliable strategic partner to support our asset management team was a key priority. As we continue to expand our portfolio and move into new markets, we expect our partners to match our ambitions and deliver expertise that aligns with our ‘value-based’ asset management strategy.

“RES brings extensive experience and proven capabilities that complements our asset management, and we look forward to working with the team to maximise the Afton wind farm’s efficiency and outputs.”

RES’ renewable energy support services portfolio now tops 6GW globally, with further growth expected over the next few months.

RES is active in onshore and offshore wind, solar, energy storage, transmission and distribution. Offering asset management, operations and maintenance and consultancy services, RES operates in ten countries across the world and in its 38-year history has delivered more than 18GW of renewable energy projects.
