- Second battery project for RES and SCR after battery storage project in Landskrona
- First battery project for Alingsås Energi, providing services to reinforce the local grid
- Rocmore Energy construct the 17 MW battery project, expected to be completed in summer 2025
RES, a leading renewable energy and energy storage development company, and SCR, a Swedish company specialising in the development of large-scale battery projects, have together with Alingsås Energi developed a 17 MW battery project in Alingsås Municipality. Rocmore Energy has acquired the project, which is scheduled to become operational in summer 2025. The project is the second collaboration between RES and SCR after their successful project in Landskrona, which was sold in March 2023.
Matilda Afzelius, CEO – Nordics, RES: “Sweden has a large and growing need for smart energy storage solutions. The collaboration between Alingsås Energi, RES and SCR is a successful example of how we can ensure a more secure energy supply for both residents and businesses. We look forward to working Rocmore Energy as a new owner of the project.”
Carl Hagert, CEO, SCR: “We are proud to deliver our second battery project in Sweden. A transition towards a renewable energy system in Sweden requires new fossil-free, controllable capacity, which can be delivered by large-scale battery solutions.”
The project will be connected to the local grid at one of Alingsås Energi’s transformer stations. As Alingsås grows with both increased number of households and businesses, the battery will enable a strengthened local grid.
Rickard Bern CEO, Alingsås Energi: “This is an exciting development and we are pleased to be involved in enabling this type of establishment in Alingsås. We look forward to taking the project into the implementation phase. A battery storage facility of this size is an important resource in the local grid.
Johan Thorpenberg, COO Rocmore Energy: “Rocmore Energy is delighted to expand our presence in the Swedish energy market. The acquisition of the 17 MW BESS project, made together with our partner Pyrios, marks another milestone in Rocmore Energy’s ambitions to enable the transition to renewable energy by providing robust energy storage solutions in Sweden. It is with great enthusiasm that we look forward to 2025 and beyond, where we will continue to play a central role in securing a sustainable energy future for Sweden”.
