RES at the Forefront of Renewable Energy and Cultural Growth
At RES, we believe that building a sustainable future is about more than just harnessing renewable energy—it’s about empowering the communities we work within. One of our most exciting recent initiatives is our sponsorship of the Jerilderie Jeithi Keeping Place and Cultural Centre, a project that combines cultural preservation with community development to drive meaningful, long-term change in the area local to Argoon Wind Farm.
A Cultural and Community Hub
The Jerilderie Jeithi Keeping Place and Cultural Centre will serve as a vital hub for First Nations culture, education, and employment. This facility will include:
- A Coffee Shop, providing a welcoming space for visitors and offering employment opportunities for local residents.
- A Cultural Ranger Program, which will engage and train local First Nations people to lead cultural tours and educational programs, deepening the understanding of their history and connection to the land.
- Cultural Competency Training for businesses and visitors, fostering respect and awareness of First Nations culture.
The centre aims to be more than just a space for cultural celebration—it will also act as a tourism and workforce development hub, attracting visitors and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the community.
Scholarships for a Brighter Future
As part of our proposed commitments to the region through Argoon Wind Farm, RES plans to establish a scholarship program for First Nations people. The program, which would be Administered by the local council in consultation with Traditional Owners, is designed to provide opportunities for education and training in fields that contribute to the renewable energy sector and beyond.
Key features of the scholarship program include:
Eligibility: Open to all First Nations students in the local region, with a preference for those pursuing studies in STEM, electrical trades, education, environmental studies, or renewable energy-related fields.
Community Impact: By supporting students to pursue their education locally, we aim to foster a pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute to the region’s development and prosperity.
Additionally, RES intends to partner with Murrumbidgee Council to create a wider scholarship initiative that also supports apprenticeships and cadetships. This program will work closely with local businesses and training providers to ensure students not only receive education but are also equipped with the tools and opportunities to thrive within the regional workforce.
Driving Regional and Cultural Growth
At RES, we see the Jerilderie Jeithi Keeping Place and Cultural Centre as a testament to what can be achieved when industry and community come together. By investing in cultural, educational, and employment initiatives, we are proud to help create a more inclusive, sustainable future that benefits everyone.
This project exemplifies our belief that renewable energy development should always go hand-in-hand with community growth. By integrating renewable energy initiatives with cultural and workforce development, we’re showing that the transition to a clean energy future can—and should—uplift communities.
