2020 Women in Construction Award Winner: Malia Hicks
2020 Women in Construction Award Winner: Malia Hicks
by RES | Nov 13, 2020 | Temps de lecture: 2 min
We are pleased to announce that Malia Hicks, RES Construction Planner/Scheduler, has won a 2020 Women in Construction Award!
Women in Construction is a prestigious awards ceremony hosted by Constructech each year in order to celebrate successful women working within the construction industry. These women represent many of the most innovative construction companies in the country. This year, Constructech held a Virtual Gala to honor these amazing women on November 12, 2020.
“We are beginning to see some progress being made among the number of women in the construction industry,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech magazine and president of Specialty Publishing Media. “It has been a tough uphill battle, but we are finally making a bit of progress, but we need to continue to be able to remain steady in the coming years. Congratulations to this year’s Constructech Women in Construction winners for all the hard work and commmitment to others they have demonstrated already.”
Malia has been with RES for over 10 years and currently manages construction scheduling for two of RES’ wind projects in Texas. Throughout her career with RES, Malia has held many roles and attributes her cross-functional experience to her success in being a better coworker to her team members and a valued employee for RES. Malia fully embodies each of the RES values – Passion, Accountability, Collaboration, and Excellence – and encourages her teams to live these values in order to be champions of change.
Malia is most proud of her partnership with her husband, who she considers her best friend. They currently reside in Texas with their three dogs, Ollie, Lady, and Lilith. In their free time, they enjoy riding their Harley motorcylces, traveling to the Caribbean, and exploring the little towns they are working in.
Malia’s manager, John Seidl, stated: “I couldn’t be more proud of Malia! She is very innovative and pairs her vast experience with technology to produce forward thinking ideas and processes! Malia is a leading example for each of us to follow and has more than earned this award.”
